Are you first? Symposium
In April 2016, first-gen students and their allies at U-M sponsored an Are You First? Symposium to help lower the barriers first gens may encounter without a family roadmap for the college experience. It featured several sessions, panel discussions and speakers to raise awareness about first-gen students on campus, provide networking opportunities and ensure success among first-gen students at U-M.
First-Generation Community Dinner
Every fall and spring semester the First-Generation College Students@Michigan student group hosts a First Gen Dinner that brings first-generation students together to celebrate their successes and share ideas, experiences and resources with one another.
